PRAJNA EXPERIENCES

Prajna Experiences

It gives me immense pleasure to be part of JET New England, Prajna team both as a

volunteer and also as a parent of Sravya (Prajna student). Prajna is not only educational

but also spiritual and refreshing experience for both adults and children. The concepts of

service, practical living coupled with real world examples made these classes very

enlightening and helped foster understanding of spirituality in our everyday life. The

concept of Acharya who drives the ignorance out and sustains knowledge and his holy

feet are the best to worship is well understood by Prajna children thereby increasing their

respect to the teachers. Prajna is wisdom and is providing a path for us to understand our

vedic heritage. The concepts of “˜Worship your own and respect all” and “Serve all

beings as service to God” are thought provoking and are leading us to an open mind

which will explore and investigate our scriptures in much greater detail.

- Madhu Chary

Jai Srimannarayana, We are very happy with Prajna classes. Slokas and bhajans are

beneficial for the entire family. These classes are truly reflecting the Indian and vedic

culture. Even though we are thousands of miles away from India, we feel very close to

Indian culture. It is a refreshing experience to join Prajna classes every week. We are

delighted to participate in chanting slokas. The values we learned during these classes do

not stop for the day, they are beneficial in our day to day life.

- Sri Hari Jala

Jai Srimannarayana! Hi, my name is Sri Savitha Devi Kolla. I am 13 years old and in the

8th grade. I have been a student of Prajna for over a year. Joining Prajna has made a

difference in my life and will definitely make a difference in your life as well. Honestly,

before I joined Prajna class, I was not interested in much of this devotional and Vedic

lifestyle and culture, even though my parents performed pooja everyday and are quite

devotional. However, now, it has influenced me significantly. My Prajna experience has

made me a better person. For instance, it has enhanced my faith in God, increased my

love and respect for others, and boosted confidence in myself. I have learned an ample

amount of paraphernalia from this past one and a half year of Prajna that it is really

unbelievable. Every time I walk out of Prajna class, I am bound to have walked out with

some type of interesting fact. For example, one week I learned that the sacred feet of Sri

Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji placed on your head symbolizes blessing from God. I

would sincerely like to thank Santharam Swamiji for his contributions in being our guru,

in teaching us slokas, bhajans, and much, much more, and also making Prajna class a fun

place to be. Jai Srimannarayana!

- Savitha Kolla, Grade 8

I like to go to Pranja classes because you get to learn bhajans, slokas and stories. I also

like it because I get to meet new people and make new friends. You do not play video

games, but actually learn something and I get to learn more about our Hindu heritage. I

hope there will still be Pranja classes.

Sriramani Sivapurapu - Grade 3

I have had a great time in Prajna class. Personally my favorite part of Prajna is when we

meditate and do yoga. I also enjoy singing. Swamiji has been helping me learn and

memorize the Vishnu Saharsranamam book. I am trying to memorize all the things we

have learned so far as in the slokas. I have had a lot of progress with Swamiji’s help.

Overall, I like learning all the things we have been learning and I’ve been having fun. I

would also like to continue Prajna classes.

Naveena Thota, Grade 4

My experience was a great one. In Prajna the sixth slokam of the Achyuthastakam was

confusing. I didn't know the Hanuman story either. But the sun god prayer was very

helpful. I think that I colored the different avatharam pictures very well. I think that

Prajna class was very good because I learned many new slokas and bhajans. I enjoyed

this program very much.

Naga Sidhu Reddivari, Grade 8

My experience in Prajna has been a great one. I have learnt many new bhajans and

slokas. For example, the Valmiki Ramayanam taught me the many great characteristics of

Lord Rama. I learned that the ideal person must have all these many personality traits.

The Achyuthastakam was a beautiful set of bhajans. I look forward to learning the

meaning of these bhajans. I hope that by attending Prajna, I have spiritually advanced my

heart. In conclusion, I have enjoyed coming to Prajna class and I look forward to

continue coming to this wonderful and spiritual program.

Sai Reddivari, Grade 4

Jai Srimannarayana! I think that the Prajna classes are good because we learn new slokas

and stories on Gods. I enjoy learning new bhajans. Smn Santharam Swamiji corrects the

pronunciation if we do it wrong. We even learn the meanings of slokas. The yoga

activities are good because it makes me feel better and well. Some are hard and some are

easy to do. I enjoy doing bhajans because it sounds well when all the kids sing it together.

I would encourage people who know very little about Indian things to attend Prajna

classes. I would like to take the classes for a long term.

Sandeep Jala, Grade???

Jai Srimannarayana! I started going to Prajna classes in March 2005. In Prajna classes we

learn slokas, bhajans and we hear some stories. We also do yoga. My favorite things in

these classes are the bhajans and the yoga.

In the next few years I would like to see a few changes. One of them is that the younger

kids should have extra help at the class. This is because they don’t know, or have just

learned how to read, so they won’t really be able to read big words. Also, the definitions

for the slokas should be easy for younger kids to read and understand. Long, complex

words are hard for younger kids to read and to understand.

Sowmya Kuruganti, Grade 6

It is a wonderful opportunity for me to learn so many things including singing, slokas and

bhajans and learning about stories of the GOD and importance of our Festivals. All of

these mean something knowing about GOD. If you sing all the slokas and bhajans a lot

you will feel great! Another important aspect of this activity is that, it always reminds me

where I came from!

Meghana Tallam, Grade 2

Jai Srimannarayana! I am good at yoga and bhajans in Prajna class because I think it is a

fun activity to do. What I like about Prajna class is the bhajans, and my favorite part is

yoga. It is very fun. I learned how to do slokams that is about the god and I also learned

how to do meditation. I really liked going to Prajna classes because I really learned a lot

about god at Prajna class on all the Sundays. I think we also have a very great teacher.

- Pavani Jonnalagadda , Grade 2

We have learned a lot of bhajans, slokas, stories, and meditation, and lots of yoga. I have

enjoyed all of these things. At first, we were all nervous and didn’t know anything and

compared to what we have learned for the past one and a half year, we have improved

and learned many, many, things. For example Ramayanam, Krishnashtakam,

Achyuthaashtakam, are all slokas. Then, we all learned some bhajans like Adisesha,

Krishnananda, Srinivasa Govinda, Jai Srimannarayana, and many more. Some stories we

learned are Gajendra Moksham, Sri Rama, Matsya Avatar, Kurma Avatar, and lots more

that are fun. One amazing thing that we learned is the Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Stothram

in one and a half month! One more thing is that every time we walk out of the door, we

have something in our heads that we learned, like one time we walked out knowing a

sloka from Ramayanam, or a sloka from Sri Krishna Prarthana, or even a new yoga step.

This is what I experienced from Prajna class!!! I would like to continue Prajna class and

learn more!!! I would like to thank Sriman Santharamji, our guru, for his teachings.

- Durga Kolla, Grade 5

I want to thank Smitha and Madhu Chary for bringing this great opportunity for our kids

to learn about our religion and culture. Prajna class is helping kids relate to our home and

our tradition. It gives me peace of mind to realize that my children and future generation

living in US can be part of our Indian tradition. Smn. Santharamji is giving our kids the

greatest gift of all and that's Knowledge and I appreciate the patience and affection he

shows in teaching our kids. I would also like to mention Smt. Radhika Goli and Smn.

Madhu Chary for filling in and keeping our class going when Swamiji is not available.

My son, Prateek really loves the stories and tries to tell his friends about Lord Krishna.

Without me reminding, he keeps practicing the Sloka he is to say on Tuesday.

- Geeta Makhija

Having grown up in India, we have heard the Slokas and learnt to appreciate the value as

we grew older. It is really a blessing to have an avenue and opportunity for the kids to

learn the Shlokas. And who better is there to teach than Santharamji, who in addition to

his vast knowledge, devotion and dedication has enormous patience and knack to hold the

attention of the kids. Our kids are enjoying both the sloka and the yoga classes.

My kids, Rachel and Rohan, look forward to Sunday evening classes. And they keep

humming the bhajans they learnt all week long sub-consciously. I am sure other parents

can relate to my experience.

- Raji Madhur

Jai Srimannarayana! Om Asmadgurubhyo: Namaha. I am very fortunate that I have been

involved in JET New England activities for the last one and half years. Having come

from a family of followers of HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, I always wished to serve our

Acharya. When I came to know that Smn. Santharamji came to the Boston area to do

dharma pracharam, I felt like our Holiness listened to my appeal and gave us an

opportunity to serve God.

I was so delighted when I was given the opportunity to lead local Prajna activities. Since

that day my priorities in life have changed. I have decided to give my time to JET and

Prajna as part of my day to day busy life. It was my great privilege that I could work with

some of the JET-USA core members in preparing the curriculum and material for Module

1 of Prajna. I have learnt a lot during this process.

It has been a great experience working with kids and learned persons like Santharamji

and other members. During our weekly Prajna classes, I help with story telling and

Jignasa. I realized the importance of teaching kids the authentic stories from our epics

rather than the corrupted material from various other sources. Kids really enjoy and look

forward to hear these stories. Kids do an amazing job of learning slokas and bhajans so

quickly and it is so wonderful hearing them recite.

We are fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers serving JET New England. I can say

that, to get to this kind of growth in less than two years, it has only happened because of

our Swamiji’s blessings. Let us all seek continuous blessings of HH Chinna Jeeyar

Swamiji, so that we can keep doing a better job of serving Acharya and Lord Narayana

forever.

- Padma Joginpalli

It has been an honor and great privilege to be associated with the activities of JET New

England chapter. Growing up in India, the age-old traditions of Indian rituals becomes

second nature. Right from childhood, we are also taught to value and respect our vedic

scriptures. However, only recently with the help of JET, I have began to truly understand

and appreciate the invaluable knowledge hidden in our vedic scriptures. Prajna is the

wisdom that reveals the true nature of all things. I have also come to realize that no

amount of reading is a substitute to gaining knowledge from a Guru and we have been

fortunate to have access to Smn. Santharamji. We are also blessed to host Smn.

Santharamji in our home. Our four-year-old son, Savan, has been learning slokas from

Santharamji and misses him dearly when he is out of town. Last but not the least,

practicing Yoga with Smn. Santharamji daily has been a wonderful experience.

-Praveen Goli

I really enjoyed the Prajna classes. They thought me many things such as stories and

many slokas. The Prajna classes have also helped me to make friends that I could really

never see except for this time. Although the locations that were available were far away

from my house in Lexington, I still loved going to the classes. My mom would always be

tired of driving my sister and I to Nashua on Fridays and on Sundays to Westford it was

still worth it. I love the Prajna classes that I won't try to forget anything I was taught.

Sridhar Sivapurapu – Grade 6

I have been a Prajna student for the past one and half year. I started attending these

classes in Mansfield and am continuing them in Grafton. I personally like going to these

classes and learning about our Indian culture and tradition. Smn. Santharam swamiji is an

excellent guru for us and the kids enjoy listening to him. Prajna also offers poojas, which

are done by the students while Santharam swamiji instructs them. I have performed the

Sri Rama Pooja and other Poojas but more are soon to come up. It was fun attending this

pooja.

Before Prajna even started in Mansfield, my dad took us for a few classes to Nashua

where the classes were already going on. We decided to start having Prajna classes in

Mansfield so we don’t have to go all the way. At that time we did not know anything and

we took a while to catch up with the slokas the New Hampshire kids were learning but

after a while, we learned really fast. We continued going to the classes for 6 months year

before I moved to Grafton.

We are very happy that a new Prajna center has started recently in Grafton and I am able

to volunteer in this center with my experience. We also practice Yoga at the end of the

class and for people that don’t play any sports or don’t have any exercise, yoga is really

good for them to learn. Vishnu Sahasranama stotram has also been added to the Prajna

class and we learn it by reading after Swamiji. Another interesting avenue is chanting

Vishnu Sahasranama Parayanam by listening to the audio recording of Sri Chinna Jeeyar

Swamiji. We are doing this every Friday at host’s house where other families are also

attending."

Seshu Kandukuri, Grade 7

The "Sri Rama Pooja" event held on June 26, 2005 was very delightful. We, the Prajna

students had an excellent experience of how our pooja procedure should be done in our

Hindu tradition. Usually kids don't get the chance of doing pooja themselves at home or

any other places. Although, we have been involved in various poojas at home or temples,

we never got an opportunity in doing pooja by ourselves. With this experience, we have

an idea of our traditional pooja performances and the meaning behind the pooja.

Thanks a lot to Smn. Santharam Swamiji for showing interst in teaching all the kids with

great patience. Also, our special thanks to Mrs. Padma Joginapali aunty, Sri Madhu

Chary Uncle and other aunts and uncles who made this event possible. We appreciate

Padma Aunty for organizing this event and Sri Hari Surapaneni uncle for offering us a

nice spacious accomodation to perform this pooja. We should often do this in our future

Prajna classes. Thank You so much Swamiji for coming up with this wonderful thought

of performing Sri Rama Pooja. Thank you once again to all!!

Harika Kandukuri, Grade 9

Prajna classes are great! I love it because I learnt a lot of new things. Some examples are

Bhajans and Slokas. I also learned great stories about Lord Venkateshwara. I think that's

the best part. I love to learn more about Sri Venkateshwara because he is such a great

God. That's not all. I also learned Yoga. It was awesome. Also, these classes are

conducted in my house. I like Prajna classes a lot and now you know why.

- Sravya Chary, Grade 4
